About Hi-Tek
Based in Isanti Minnesota, Hi-Tek began operations in 1926 as a manufacturer and supplier of molded rubber products. Focusing on the farm equipment industry Hi-Tek became a compression molding plant in 1954.
Today, Hi-Tek continues to supply products to the farm industry but has also developed a commitment to producing premium grade roofing shingles made from compression molded rubber.
Advancements in rubber technology has allowed Hi-Tek to develop a shingle from crumb rubber. When a proprietary polymer is added to it, the rubber becomes remoldable.
Initial, "real world" testing of the prototype shingle began in 1987. After several years of use the shingles were removed for analysis and showed NO deterioration in the integrity of the product.
The shingles have continued to be tested and improved for over a decade before Hi-Tek believed they were worthy of providing to the roofing market.
